Frozen Yogurt Peanut Butter Bites with Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt

A simple, feel-good frozen treat made with real ingredients and just the right amount of indulgence. Perfect any time of year but especially when the temps really heat up!

Serves: ~10 bites
Time: ~1.5 hours (includes freezing)
Level: Easy (with a little patience while they freeze 😉)

There’s just something about a little sweet treat waiting in the freezer that makes the day feel easier.

Not a full-on dessert. Not something overly indulgent. Just… a bite or two of something cold, creamy, a little chocolatey, and oh-so satisfying.

These frozen yogurt bites are exactly that.

They’re made with simple, real ingredients (the kind you actually recognize), come together in just a few steps, and strike that perfect balance between feel-good and feel-like-a-treat.

And once you have a batch in your freezer, you’ll understand why they disappear so quickly.

Ingredients

For the yogurt bites:

  • ½ cup Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup natural peanut butter (softened, room temperature)
  • 1–2 tbsp maple syrup (to taste)
  • ½ cup fresh blueberries

For the chocolate coating:

  • 1 cup dark chocolate (chips or chopped)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • Flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix the base: In a medium bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, peanut butter, and maple syrup. Stir until smooth and fully incorporated. Gently fold in the blueberries.

  2. Portion + freeze: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spoon small, bite-sized portions onto the tray. Freeze for 1–2 hours, or until solid.

  3. Melt the chocolate: Add the dark chocolate and coconut oil to a heat-safe bowl set over a pot of gently simmering water. Stir until smooth and glossy.

  4. Dip + finish: Dip each frozen bite into the melted chocolate using two forks, letting excess drip off. Place back onto the tray and sprinkle with flaky sea salt.

  5. Set + enjoy: Return to the freezer briefly to set the chocolate. Let sit at room temperature for 2–3 minutes before enjoying for the best creamy texture.

Tools Used

A simple setup makes this recipe even more enjoyable from start to finish.

  • Using a stand to elevate your tray while portioning your bites makes it smooth and easy to manage
  • A lid speeds up the boiling process, and having a place to set it keeps your counters clean and mess-free
  • A heat-safe resting spot for melted chocolate makes dipping easier (and safer)

It’s those little details that make the process feel effortless and enjoyable—exactly what we designed Trivae for.

Simple Swaps & Flavor Variations

  • Swap peanut butter for almond butter or sunflower seed butter
  • Try raspberries or strawberries instead of blueberries
  • Add chopped nuts or coconut flakes for extra texture

📝 Kitchen Notes & Tips

  • Choose a natural peanut butter: Look for one made with just peanuts (and maybe salt). Try to avoid butters with fillers and additives. They yield a cleaner, richer flavor not to mention a better nutritional profile.

  • Dark chocolate makes the difference: It balances the sweetness and gives these that “treat” feel without going overboard.

  • Don’t waste the extra chocolate: Dip pretzels, strawberries, banana slices—whatever you have on hand.

  • Scaling: This recipe can be easily scaled up by simply multiplying all ingredients as needed.

  • Storage tip: Store in the freezer for best freshness and texture.

  • Best texture: Let sit for a couple of minutes before eating for the best consistency.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long do frozen yogurt bites last in the freezer? Stored in an airtight container, they’ll keep well for up to 2–3 weeks. For the best texture, enjoy them within the first week.
  • Can I use regular yogurt instead of Greek yogurt? You can, but Greek yogurt creates a thicker, creamier bite. Regular yogurt may result in a softer, icier texture.
  • Can I use frozen blueberries instead of fresh? Yes, just keep in mind they may release more moisture as they thaw, which can slightly soften the texture of the bites.
  • Do I have to use coconut oil in the chocolate? It’s recommended. Coconut oil helps thin the chocolate for easier dipping and creates that smooth, snappy shell once set.
  • Can I make these ahead of time? Yes, these are perfect for prepping in advance. Keep a batch in your freezer so you always have a quick, satisfying treat on hand.
